   Carl A. Pedersen, 71, passed away peacefully July 13, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Burr Ridge.
   Carl, of Norwegian descent, was born in 1946 in Chicago. He was a former resident of Hinsdale and a lifelong resident of the Chicago area.
   He was a member of Hinsdale’s Redeemer Lutheran Church for more than 60 years, serving on its board of trustees and chairing its youth committee.
   Carl graduated from Hinsdale Township High School in 1964 and later served on its reunion committee. In 1969, Carl graduated from Stetson University, where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.
   A third generation window cleaner, Carl owned and operated the family business, World Window Cleaning Co., the Midwest’s oldest window cleaning company, which was founded in 1890. Carl was the first elected President of the International Window Cleaning Association in 1990, was presented the Ettore Award in 1998 and received its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.  Carl was also elected president many times to the Illinois Association of Building    Maintenance Contractors and served on its board of directors.
   Carl enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family and being the social organizer, planning outings, reunions and gatherings. He will be best remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, hearty laugh and warm smile.
   Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Jenny and Art. 
   He is survived by his wife, Janice; his sons, Christian (Julia) and Noa; his daughter, Maren (Bill Cline); his grandchildren, Bianca and Carl; his brother, Allen (Patricia); more than a dozen nieces and nephews; and hundreds of close friends he also considered part of his own family.
   A service celebrating Carl’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 139 E. First St., Hinsdale.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church’s Youth Fund, 139 E. First St., Hinsdale, IL 60521; or the Hinsdale Central Class of 1964 scholarship fund, c/o Hinsdale Central High School, 5500 S. Grant St., Hinsdale, IL 60521.
