John W. Hartigan passed away on March 1, 2018.  John was the loving husband of Cecelia (Ceil) Hartigan for 53 years, father of Laura (Tom) Lukas, Michael (Andrea) Hartigan and Dr. Brian Hartigan, deceased, (Pam).  Proud Grandfather of Hannah, Michael, Connor, Ryan, Brennan, Katelyn, John, Michaela and Colin.

John was born in St. Louis, Missouri.  When his father passed away, he and his Mother, Loretta, were graciously invited to move to Chicago to live with his aunt, uncle and cousin, Larry.  John attended Little Flower, Calumet High School and Northwestern University.  The day after he graduated from high school, John applied for a job at Standard Oil of Indiana and was hired. John spent his entire career, 42 years, at Standard Oil, which became Amoco.  There he progressed to the position of Eastern Region Financial Manager.  His successful career was interrupted when he served in the Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.  He earned his BS degree in Business at Northwestern University night school which he attended for 14 years while working full time at Amoco and raising his 3 children.

Visitation: March 24, 2018, 10:15 – 11:15am at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs, IL.  Memorial Mass to follow at 11:15 am.  All services will conclude at the Church.   If you wish, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.  For info: Adolf Funeral Home (630)325-2300 or
