Wallace L. Sandberg, age 99, a longtime resident of Hinsdale, died on September 28, 2015 at his residence, Park Place of Elmhurst. Wally was born January 20, 1916 and raised in Duluth Minnesota, a hometown that remained dear to him. He had a successful singing career during the 1940's and performed with a quartet around the country. He served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He married Betty in 1951, and began a long successful career with Travelers Insurance Co. During his life he enjoyed golfing with Betty and their friends, extensive traveling and community and church activities. He was also very devoted to his family. Wally was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Sandberg. He is survived by his daughters, Laura (late William) Yeo of Indianapolis and Diana Sandberg of St. Charles, and grandchildren Caitlin (Chuck) Sinks and Collin Prentiss. Visitation is Saturday October 3, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Hinsdale United Methodist Church, 945 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale, IL 60521. Daughter of the late Mary (née Jelinek) and Angelo Colangelo. Barbara retired from Physicians Record Company after 25 years of service.
