Sophie Boritz Obituary

Sophie Boritz, wife of the late John Boritz, dear sister of Stephanie Sulda, loving mother of Stevie (Donna), Susan (Tom), Sandra, Joni, Judy (Joe) and the late Jimmy and Johnny, grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 10, and great-great grandmother of 6, passed peacefully on March 6, 2024 at age 98.

Growing up on the South side of Chicago, Sophie was an avid White Sox Fan, who on occasion managed to sneak a few free Sox games by hopping the fence.  She lived most of her adult life in Countryside where she raised her family. She was a huge Chicago Bears fan and rarely missed a game. Throughout her life she loved watching Soap Operas and anything related to Tom Selleck on tv, riding her motorcycle, sewing/crafts, fixing jigsaw puzzles, playing games, joking around and spending time with family.  Her favorite practical joke was putting a plastic spider in and unexpected spot just to startle someone.

Some of our fondest memories are her traditional lamb cake on Easter, home baked Christmas cookies, latatina, playing old records and dancing the polka, unstoppable laughter, notable quotes, such as: 'Must you slam the door', 'were you born in a barn', 'WEEEEEEEE' (after drinking a glass of wine), all of the phrases she would say in Croatian and so many more that are instilled in our hearts.

Sophie lived life to the fullest, gave of herself unconditionally and was loved by many.  She will missed by all.

Memorial will be held at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison, Willowbrook, IL 60527 on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 between 3pm - 7pm.
